I thought this was a touching poem. Someone sent it to me while I was grieving, and I thought I'd share with you...
Verse For a Certain Dog by Dorothy Parker
Such glorious faith as fills your limpid eyes,
Dear little friend of mine, I never knew.
All-innocent are you, and yet all-wise.
(For Heaven's sake, stop worrying that shoe!)
You look about, and all you see is fair;
This mighty globe was made for you alone.
Of all the thunderous ages, you're the heir.
(Get off the pillow with that dirty bone!)
A skeptic world you face with steady gaze;
High in young pride you hold your noble head,
Gayly you meet the rush of roaring days.
(Must you eat puppy biscuit on the bed?)
Lancelike your courage, gleaming swift and strong,
Yours the white rapture of a winged soul,
Yours is a spirit like a Mayday song.
(God help you, if you break the goldfish bowl!)
"Whatever is, is good" - your gracious creed.
You wear your joy of living like a crown.
Love lights your simplest act, your every deed.
(Drop it, I tell you- put that kitten down!)
You are God's kindliest gift of all - a friend.
Your shining loyalty unflecked by doubt,
You ask but leave to follow to the end.
(Couldn't you wait until I took you out?) |

I can't believe it!! Last time I checked he was doing better. I'm soooo sorry for your loss. Zane became a part of all of our families during his illness and we all are grieving his passing with you. I know that words can't bring him back... but know that he's in a better place now and his pain is gone. You did everything you could for him, but it was his time. Now Zane is your angel.
His loss is a reminder to us all not to take our puppies for granted. Things can change so fast. I will say another prayer for you and give Linkin some extra love today, because you never know what tomorrow will bring.
RIP Zane |

Shannon, you're last post was so beautiful. Tears are streaming down my face right now. My heart is aching for you and your family.
It's apparent that Zane has touched so many lives. We've all taken a little piece of him and he'll always be remembered. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that Zane will always be in our hearts. Thank you for sharing him with us, even if it was a short time. He was a very special boy. |

Oh, you guys have been so wonderful...all the notes about Zane have really touched our hearts here. Thank you...
Today was awful...the quietness did not go away...My Wyatt just slept the entire day. Tonight we loaded up our blue schmoo and went to the vet, we had to give some more cash to our huge bill...I thought that I could of died pulling into that parking lot, and it took everything I had not to tear up walking in to the counter. Our favorite desk gal was working, and I told her I needed to pay on our bill, she did not even know Zane was gone...then roll down the tears, she started to well up too...this is going to be a long road for awhile walking in those doors with Wyatt....
On our way home little Wyatt decided that he was going to whine and howl...while all curled up on his seat. We have a chevy trailblazer with the extended back, and Zane always sat in the third seat, Wyatt behind us...Wyatt kept sitting up and looking over the seat at the way back, never jumped back there, but would look and then whine...it broke my heart. He was looking for his Zane.
It has been one day that he has been gone, and it feels like forever. His pictures are everywhere on our computer, all over the house. I just miss kissing his sweet little head, rubbing his ears, and just saying oh, Zane do you know how much I love you... I thank God for the time we had with him, and now we give thanks for our Wyatt, if he weren't here the emptyness would be so overwhelming...
I mentioned to Bill, that maybe this winter we could find Wyatt a sister or brother...I'm worried that he will get very depressed, Maisy our other dog is older and not as playful. We had brought Wyatt home for Zane to give him a playmate, and now he is gone. My thoughts are still "one day at a time"
Love your furbabies like there is no tomorrow, kiss them, hug them, and play with them!
Shannon, Bill and Wyatt

This has been a very tough one to follow. It is so fresh in our minds after losing Howie at such a young age. All we can offer is hugs and prayers. Even with our new rescue Tucker it is still very empty. Rest knowing we all share your pain and you are not alone in your grief. That is shared amongst your weim friends here as you are all in our thoughts.

Shannon,
I know this was terribly hard. Zane was a member of your family. But remember, that he had a wonderful life with you. Some dogs die and never get that. Like AmyB said, thank you for sharing all of his moments with us.
Each and every Weim on here, I feel as f they were my own. My heart goes out to you and your family right now, and Wyatt too. He's probably feeling the worst. Just snuggle up to him even more.
Zane was a truly amazing dog, and no one can take that away. Rest in Peace sweet Zane. |

Shannon,
I had posted the other day and have been thinking about it.
My question on that post was "why". Why did such a terrible disease/condition strike Zane? I guess we will never know, that is why I was wondering if it was hereditary, and asked about the breeder. How can we make sure that our dog doesn't come down with it?
I guess the answer is still.....we never know!
My heart and my thought go out to the family. With all the love you have to give, Wyatt will be fine. He just needs more love and affection.
"Time" and only "Time" heals all hurt and sadness.
God Bless To All Of You

Page,
After all that went on with Zane, the vet said we will probably never know what caused this disease. Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. It came on so fast over just one weekend, that we could see. I don't know for sure, but from what I have asked and read, I don't think there are any pre-testing things that you can do. I can send you to a support group that might give you some type of answers, they helped me alot to understand what was going on, and what was to expect out of Zane. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/K9Auto-ImmuneSupport/
We were in contact with Zanes breeders, have been since day one of bringing him home. They had not had any type of this happen with any of their dogs, nor had heard from any families that had their pups that had any such problems. We are also in contact with Wyatts family since both our dogs were related. That is the one great thing with us getting our Weims, both breeders have stayed in contact and have always been there for us.
Thanks for your concern, and well wishes..

Thank you, Shannon.
I have heard about other disease related conditions in a pup. And it seems that just one pup gets the raw deal. There was a cocker pup who had many health problems, the owner contacted the breeder, then the breeder call all owners, and no other owner's had problems.
Thank you for the site information, I will read about it.
Best to you,
