I don't know if you guys remember my post about the weimaraner in the pet store but I went back in there tonight and she is still there! She is 4 months old now and she's in this tiny cage.
I talked to the girl working there and she said that they want $900 for her but whispered that the manager told one person $800 because nobody has been interested since she is so crazy. "Well I guess so since she's in a tiny cage all day long!" Then a guy that worked there came over and asked if mine were nervous because she seems so scared of everyone.
I swear if I had the money I would get her out of there and foster her. I'm going to call the owner or manager tomorrow and see how low he is willing to come down on the price. Then I may see if the rescue I work with would be willing to help out. I'm not sure if that would be unethical (a rescue giving money to a pet store) but I would cover part of the expenses and tell them not to reimburse me for the money I've put out so far.
It's just so upsetting to see her in there, just barely fitting head to rear, and I know she has to be hunched over when she stands up.

Let's break in, steal the puppies, and burn that sucker down.
There were 2 Weims in the pet store in the mall here. Whoever came up with the idea to put a pet store in the mall next to a school of 45,000 college kids is a genius. They go through puppies like crazy. My friend told me they got the Weims 4 days ago and I was at the mall a couple hours ago and they had already been sold. |

Yeah this one is in Annapolis Mall. They have 2 weims, just got an 8 week old in today. That means the 4 month old one will be in there longer.
I swear, I really would steal that puppy if I didn't have children. I almost did the last time I was in there. I just wanted to make a run for it. |

| Alright, I'm sitting here trying to think of what to say when I call the store tomorrow. How do I get them to lower the price to the lowest possible? Should I tell them what kind of problems she will have as a result of being crated for the first 4 months of her life? Should I tell them that I'm with rescue and plan on fostering her? UGH! I know that I'm going to get emotional, I'm such a cry baby. That's why I need to think everything out before I make the call. Help me! |

I think stealing the puppy would be easier, then you wouldn't have to talk or explain yourself!
If I was closer, I would totally be your partner in crime!
I wish I had real advice to give you, I would be the same way... You are an amazing woman! |

Oooh!!! Sooooo maddening!
I'd help ya. We'd get everyone focused on something else. I'll fake a seizure or something, bring fake blood... and you run with the puppy? Heck, I'd be willing to use real blood, that poor little monkey-doll.
Maybe you could say "Look, that puppy is going to be less and less salable as the days pass. You KNOW you aren't going to get that much money. Weimaraners are hyper, hyper dogs each day she spends in there the less likely she is to be cuddly for your shoppers. I'm with X-Weim Rescue and we'll worry about finding her a home. We don't have a lot of money. Let's make this work. It truly is the best answer for everyone involved."
Just be frank. Hit him with all the horrible things that can happen with weim puppies, scare the poop outta him and see if it works?
If not? Let's continue to plot for this poor babies release. |

Definitely point out the fact that nobody's going to want this rambunctious 35 lb 4 month old when they're looking at the 8 week old. Tell him he better take your offer before he has to give it away.
You should talk to the rescue first and see how much they'd be willing to pay. |

Amy,
I wish I had some advice for you. Make sure the pet store has your contact information so that when they decide they can't sell her they will call you. To be sure they call you, offer them maybe $150 to take her off their hands. Make sure you speak to the manager.
Rescue will not offer any funds to a pet retail.... you can contact them, they will be happy to give you advice but they will not offer $.
I know how difficult this is for you. |

Get a real good looking fake zurconia diamond ring.
Tell him u want to see how is on leash to see if u think u could handle him as a pet...You get where I'm going with this..Leave your fake ring as collateral.
The malls are busy now...walk him right out the door...blend in with the crowd and scoop him up under your arm and run like hell.
Have a getaway car at one entrance.
Definetely use a distraction. |

man that makes me mad. the worst part is that 95% of these places couldnt care less about the welfare of the dogs. they are bussiness' that only care about making money. id be surprised if they are willing to negotiate due to the dogs wellfare. you have to appeal to thier sense of $$$. tell em about how this dog will shortly be "unsellable".
good luck, keep us posted. |

That is terrible. I like PamK's idea . . . maybe you can call the SPCA (http://www.mdspca.org) and find out what the options are after describing the poor conditions the Weim is living in (cage too small, hunched over, etc.) Depending on what they tell you, it might give you some leverage when talking with the pet store if they are uninclined to work with you in the best interest of the poor girl. If they are not cooperative, you might also see what options are available through the Better Business Bureau and through local news stations, newspaper ads, craigslist postings, etc. I hope things work out. I know it's one of those catch-22 situations. |
