Ohhh good topic!
Um...prozac...for you of corse...lol..
Welcome!! You have come to the right place if you want information that will help you day after day! This is like the Weimaraner owners bible here online.
I would like to share a few things... a crate, a kong toy, peanut butter, nice leash and collar, food dish, a couple of toys, maybe a rope toy to chew on, training treats, oatmeal shampoo for pups/dogs, a dog bed, we use a chamois to dry our boy with after bath time, did I mention a KONG TOY!! this is a must for all Weims...
That is what I could think of right away, but always have on hand, alot of human patience and love for your new pup....this is a wonderful breed of dog, their personality is just amazing and what love and commitment you give them, they will give back 110% in unconditional love. Good luck with your puppy...we will all be here for you in case of any questions along the way.

I bought a lot of new socks and bras....mine kept getting eaten!!!
Definitely a stuffed animal.
Things to restrain the little devil....baby gates, a crate, a gentle leader or prong collar!!! Just joking (not really). |

On a thread a little while back, someone suggested getting a can of pure pumpkin, as a digestive aide in case of GI problems. You might want to do a search for that thread....
Congratulations! The pre-puppy stockpiling is a lot of fun! |

Save an empty two-liter soda bottle to fill with hot water, wrap in a towel, and put in their crate at night...it soothes them.
My other suggestions include laundry detergent and earplugs for you
For the pup, a baby blanket, stuffed animal, Nylabone and Kong Wubba. |

Lots of great suggestions so far...
My choices would be:
*plastic crate (I prefer plastic over wire)
*dog bed (for living room)
*collar, 6ft leash and long line (check cord)
*stainless steel bowls
*kong and other chew toys
*ear cleaner (homemade or from the vet)
*general first aid kit
*baby gate (if your house needs them)
*paper towels, cleaner (with scent remover and no ammonia) and bissell spot bot (if you have lots of carpet)
*earplugs
*patience (what training is all about), restraint (who can deny those puppy eyes ) and humour (makes it all easier).
I would also look into a vet that has some Weim experience, a puppy class and purchasing Ian Dunbar's "AFTER You Get Your Puppy" book or Sirius Puppy Training DVD.
Lastly, ask your breeder as much as you can about caring and training for your new pup including: feeding, vaccinations, crate/potty/puppy obedience training, family temperaments or health conditions.
CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK!!
We look forward to pictures!! |

Ohhh...
Indestructible plastic furniture
Disposable bedding (for your bed when you give in and let puppy sleep with you)
Ear plugs.
Case for above mentioned ear plugs when you can't bring yourself to put them in.
Spare duvet for sleeping on the sofa.
Access to a newspaper recycling plant.
Shares in a nappy sack firm.
Knitting pattern for socks to replace all the ones your puppy will run off with.
Marriage guidance councillor for when you decide you love your dog more than your partner.
Telephone with quick dial (vet at no 1.)
New car big enough for your dogs (it's a weim you won't stop at one)
and most importantly...a sense of humour, these guys will push you to your limits more than once, but the way they take over your heart makes it all worth while.
Congratulations and good luck.

| And a 2 month nap to make up for the first 2 months when you get about 10 hours of sleep each month and the only reason you get that much is because you sleep at work and stop lights. |

Lots of pillow covers, weims like to sleep right on the pillows
Extra blankets, weims get cold
I tried the baby gate, my weim looked at it and jumped over. It was rather pointless... |

Just to save you some money...
Don't go overboard on buying lots of stuffed toys...they will get ruined in a very short time. Stick to the most durable toys for your pup-nylabone, tuffies, kong toys, busy bone, etc. They will last the longest!
I ended up throwing away lots of Gracie's soft toys because they were unsafe to have around. She tore them up in rapid speed! |

First of all congrats , do doubt it will be a exciting time for you and I bet you are counting the " sleeps " !! I would recommend the good old kong toy and most of what has already been mentioned. There is one thing which I would recommend you to get , it will cost you a dollar in the dollar store and save you thousands! drum roll ......
a " carabina " ( one of those abseiling clasps ) to lock your crate if you are crate training him. A few weeks back Benton my escape artist pup managed to get himself out the crate . He went on a rampage and destroyed shoes , new sunglasses , prescription glasses, tipped over a plant pot in the living room , the carnage list goes on.
As you can image my wife was not amused and benton and I nearly got re homed.
It baffled me all day how he got out. To my astonishment riddle would be solved the following morning. I was woken by some rustling in his cage. What he was doing was licking the crate lock slider through the bars so it slowly moved back. Also he was tapping the cage so the vibration would also help the slider to move back .
Never underestimate the pup , they are smart and not frightened to use it.
