my weims love squeker toys. they rip the squekers out and then i have to throw them away so they don't choke but they love them while they last. also, softy blankets. Miley loves to be covered up with a blanket like a little human. also some sturdy and tough toys. my weims can destroy a new toy in a matter of minutes. don't buy any really expensive toys cause you'll go broke trying to replace them.
congrats when you get the pup....we'll all be waiting for pictures. |

A lot of people are listing ear plugs. Not sure if this is something to come later or what. I don't want to seem like a dummy but I don't get it. |

I agree...crate, crate, crate!!!!!!!! Its hard because they protest so when they are in there, but it helps with housebreaking too.
Patience is key!
And this website will be your BIBLE!!!!! You'll need the sympathy and advice of others who have suffered "The Puppy Years".....
Pepper was a peeing and pooping machine from the get go!!!!
I do feed canned pumpkin when my dogs get loose stools, so that is a good one to have on hand too. Research the foods before you pick one. There is a lot of crap food out there that is advertised to be all natural and blah blah blah....at the end of the day, its still crap!
Get to know your vet and his kids because you will be paying for their college educations...lol
Also look into obedience classes or puppy kindergarten to socialize from the get go.
As far as toys go, Pepper was content to gnaw on a knotted sock for the longest time! She wasn't too bad on sof t toys till about 6 months, then she began tugging with my Lab on the other end and POOF...stuffing everywhere....we do frozen raw marrow bones ...it occupies them for quite a while and it cleans their teeth to boot! I always keep those on hand when I need to get them out of my hair!
Good luck and I can't wait to hear stories and see pictures! They grow so fast!!! I wish they could bottle puppy breath!!!! I love that stuff! |

i crated Fooky till he was about 10 months old. he whined a little at first, i got him at 3 months and he had never been crated. he did good though, if he cried, i took him potty and then put him back in the crate. he protested for awhile but would fall asleep. now he walks right into his crate in the mornings.....no problems at all.
Miley on the other hand, she was so tiny when we got her and i was 5 months pregnant so i didn't want to get up all night with her. she slept a lot longer in bed next to me so that's where she slept. At about 5 months i let her sleep on the floor on a bed next to Fooky. i could hear her collar jangle when she got up so i would take her out to potty then. i never crated her during the night. now, she's 8 months old and we crate her in the mornings and she barks and whines. i should have crated her from the get go......mistake on my part.
She has to be led into her crate. if she knows we're getting ready to leave in the morning, she'll hide under my bed or won't come in from the backyard. at night, her and fooky sleep next to my bed, each on their own bed. they are normally good from about 10pm to 5 am and then my husband wakes up for work and lets them out.
i feel sorry for Miley though because she still barks and whines when we put her in. and she's like a little camel......she spits and starts drooling so while she barks, she's spitting at the same time. needless to say i have to put a towel in front of her crate so she doesn't ruin the carpet. and i have to put a thick blanket in her crate and wash it frequently because of all the drooling she does while she's in there. |

I think it has to do with the crate training, and the whining that comes along with it...these pups have ultrasonic cries!
LOL....

| Congratulations!!. This will be the start of a love affair!I don't have the experience of most of these mum's on the site, but I think the thing this breed seems to need is your absolute devotion to them as well as them to you!!. They also need your entire body cos thats what they like to sit on most of the time!!!.And I,m sure you won;t mind, they cuddle like no other dog!!! |

We have been crating Loki for 3 weeks now and I think I have heard him cry two times. I don't think he mind being in there. It keeps him out of the way of our 3 other monsters.

My other suggestions include laundry detergent and earplugs for you
For the pup, a baby blanket, stuffed animal, Nylabone and Kong Wubba. |
I personally would pass on the bottle filled with water. I tried this and ended up with one wet Puppy! The little ones have super sharp teeth. |
