|
|
The last few times I've taken Ace to Petsmart or Petco, he has lifted his leg on things in the store, like a corner display or bin of toys. He has never, ever lifted his leg at home. He always squats to pee....he is neutered.
I realize he is probably smelling other dogs and whatnot, but why did he just start doing this now? What does it mean? Dominance?
He acts very ashamed after he does it, I think he might know it's wrong but just can't help himself (?)
He loves to go to these stores, I'd hate to not be able to take him anymore.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

| He smells other dogs and is marking his territory. You can train him not to. You have to give him a quick correction immediately when you see he start to lift. He'll get it. The behavior is natural for him but he can learn when NOT to lift. |

I rarely see a dog NOT lift and mark at the petco where chris works and I rep...
We just wish any owner whose dog poops would have the decency to clean it up instead of acting like their dog didnt do it and then not even telling an employee that something needs to be cleaned! |

When this happened yesterday, I did catch him as he was lifting and he stopped when I told him 'no'.
He gets this funny look on his face like "I'm know I'm gonna get yelled at, but I just can't help it....."
He is fast....we'll be moseying along in the store and all of a sudden, like lightening, his back leg is up, almost like he's trying to sneak it.
That stinker.
Luckily, he had never pooped inappropriately.......(knock on wood) |

that's what I was gonna say.. kind of like a kid licking a marsbar so that he HAS to have it now cos noone else will want it now that it's been licked.
What other dog is going to want a toy that another dog has peed on?? |

When there is a box of assorted chocolates around my husband's family, you gotta watch, because they all lick the tops of the ones they like, and then put them back. I usually just pass on the chocolate.. |
