|

This past weekend our local kennel club hosted a lure coursing trial. It was pretty neat to watch and afterward they had a fun match for the non hounds. A guy in our club got some great pictures! Scout was pretty mad when she realized she was just chasing a plastic sack!

The "lures" which are actually plastic sacks are attached to a line that runs around several pulleys and is driven by a motor. One of the crew controls the speed of the lure. If the dogs go off course they can stop it or slow it down until they catch sight of it. They can also speed it up if the dogs get too close to it. The sight hounds did a much longer course with a lot more turns. They shortened it up for us.
I don't know if other lure trials do the fun run but if you hear of one in your area you should ask. It was really fun! And it was cool to watch the hounds! Wouldn't it be great to have one of these at home! |

| fun stuff, great shots. I know I took my girls to an event where they had this and they went absolutely nuts when that think came flying by. I had to take them away as they were getting so excited and barking they were becoming a distraction lol |

Great shots!
I tried this once with my guys and they didn't want to chase, probably because I was breaking them at the time. |

| I've always wanted to try it with my guys! We live with a bunch of Whippets and Danes who go coursing often. I personally think the Weims could kick some Dane butt in the fun run : ) |

Thanks!
KEEN is a wonderful boy, who is currently bouncing off the walls because it got too dark too quick for our final run of the day...
I made a blog for my last foster and it seemed to go over well, so I thought I would try it again! |
