Hi I'm a proud mom of a beautiful weimaraner named Lucylou, Lucy for short. A couple days ago a enormous lump appeared on her side. It dosen't bother her or hurt when I touch it. It is about 2 inches in diameter and protrudes 1/4 to 1/2 inch, It can be moved a little and it a soft firm texture. The fur and skin are normal no licking or scratching, no visible wound at all. She has no symtoms, everything is bouncy and happy as exer. She is eating and drinking the same. I plan to take her to the vet tomorrow, but if any of you have had similar problems please let me know all about it. thanks

Fooky had one on the side of his snout. The vet couldn't really explain what it was but said it must be some sort of allergy reaction. it was a little bit smaller then a kids bouncy ball and i could move it around the area it was in. It did not bother Fooky either and after about 3 months it went away. It started getting smaller and smaller and eventually just disappeared. So if it's the same thing my fooky had, no worries. Very Happy

My boy had a lump appear on his side, at first I couldn't see any sign of a bite and it didn't seem to bother him. After a few days it came to a "head" and got swollen and gross. We think he got bit by a centipede while sleeping in the grass. It was the size of a golfball and looked really bad for a while. It ended up healing completely with no scar.

Bailey had one appear on her snout. It is a little smaller than a marble. The vet said it may be a fatty cyst. It doesn't bother her, and has not grown. My vet said not to worry about it as long as it doesnt get any bigger.

thanks so much for your information. We went to the vet on Monday. He said it was from somesort of trauma, a bite or a poke. He stuck a huge needle in and drained out a bunch of bloody liquid. It may fill back up, if it does we need to drain it agan. Then if it keeps coming back he'll have remove it. I thought maybe I'll have her spayed in about 3 weeks (she"s in heat now) and if the lump is still a problem he could take of at the same time. Thanks again

As an long time owner of Weims this will probably not be the last of lumps and bumps. Most of them are harmless fatty cysts. If they get too big they can be removed by your Vet, but it will require surgery. We have always kept ours on lower fat content food to reduce the chances of these. Also ours have always seemed susceptible to inflammations from bug bites. We have a condition for this my wife and I dubbed Puffy Snout Syndrome jokingly. For these one Benadryl always seems to do the trick. Always check with your Vet, but be prepared, if you have Weims you'll have some lumps, think of it as part of their charm.

welcome!!!

funny enough, I just posted about my weim's lumpy bump in the general health forum a couple of days ago. its on her snout. haven't had it checked out yet because it doesn't seem to be bothering her and based on everyone's comments, its likely a very typical weim bump.
