LIGHT PATCH ON TOP OF HEAD

Postby MUSKIE08 » Wed May 27, 2009 11:08 pm

I have a 5 year old silver weim that has a light colored round patch on top of his head it is very soft light short fur and it developed a year or two ago and is pretty noticable as allot of people as what is up with the bald spot. the breeder that delivered our blue weim even noticed it. anyone ever see this and what caused it. it does not bother him and he has been very healthy. just curious

Can you post a picture?
I have a dog and sometimes I'll be the littlest kid with my dog and marvel at his ears and his nose and how he looks at me. If he died, I'd bawl like a baby.

It's called a Grafmar cap and it's completely normal as a weim ages. Some of them start developing it as early as 3 or 4, some of them later.

Edited to say that I don't know if it's as prominent on blues or if they get them at all. But certainly in gray weims it's a normal thing like graying around the muzzle.

This is an awesome piece of knowledge. Now I have something else I can call my brother's (quickly developing) bald spot.

Scout was 6 in February. I guess we noticed it starting when he was about four. It got very noticeable about a year ago.

As Meredith said it is a Grafmar cap.

I find it disturbing that someone who is breeding Weims doesn't know what it is........
