Large breed vs. standard dog food

Postby johnsonmopar » Sat Aug 25, 2007 7:13 pm

I live in a rural area and my local farm and ranch store just started stocking Chicken soup dog food. They cannot get the large breed formula for adult or puppy. Is there a lot of difference between the two formulas? Would it be a bad idea to feed my 4 year old weim chicken soup adult dog food? Also I am getting a puppy on the 15th of sept. Does that puppy need to be on a large breed puppy formula?
Also the chicken soup dog food isdistributedd by Diamond dog food. Does anyone have any input on the Diamond brand dog food other that the chicked soup? Thanks for any help and Please don't make this a dog food battle. Matt

Matt,

IN GENERAL I do not recommend Large Breed food, espeically large breed puppy food, but it depends on the ingredients and nutrient profile.

Whether this food is good for your dogs is difficult to answer. Not all foods are good for every dog. In general, off the top of my head, the ingredient list is pretty good.

When it comes to food quesitons, I always suggest that peopel do their own research as it's important to know how to read labels and understand what the ingredient list means.

www.dogaware.com is a good place to start.
