Just checking back for an update... Kam was one of the first Weim's I "got to know" when I found this board. He was sooo beautiful. I'm going to miss hearing about him. Now he's watching over us from above. Take care Kam. My thoughts are with you and your family. |

Thank you everyone. It's been a really sucky day, to say the least. I'm not sure how far I'll get, but I'll give it a go...
We lost our boy to the dreaded bloat. Either his symptoms were subtle, or it happened in a flash. By the time we realized what was happening, it was too late. He took his last breath at 540am today.
The mom in me is going through all the phases, a blithering idiot blaming myself, to the current numb, "I can't believe this is real" feeling. It just doesn't seem possible. He was with us less than a year, and he was not yet 2. He was my 4th baby...my boy, my knucklehead, my handsome Kam-o. He was a horse, which may have been his curse. Extraordinarily tall and thin, with anxiety issues. Still, it shouldn't have happened. I'm pissed, sad, guilty, regretful of the things we have not yet done together, you name it. I think I'm feeling it all. And my kids, especially the girls, especially Isabel, wow she is just like me. I always used to say that I was his big mom and she was his little mom! I really think he loved her as much as he loved me! And she felt the same.
Just last week, she brought home a paper from school about heroes. Her hero was "Kam, the watchdog"! It says, and I quote, "He can bark at people when thier trying to do something bad to us or try to steel something from us. (He's a watch dog!)". And she drew a picture - it's priceless and will hang in a frame on my wall forever!
Again, thank you for all your kind words - it means a lot. Not everyone understands how we "dog people" feel.

I'm sorry.
Of course you would have done anything possible to prevent it if you knew, so you can't blame yourself. It'll just take time for that feeling to go away. He was lucky to have a good loving home and kids to play with. I'm sorry for you and your family!!! |

Just I cannot say enough how sorry I am. Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers. It's so raw and just unbelievable, I know that feeling... and I wish there was more I could do.

I've been waiting and hoping you'd be able to post what happened... I guess it's a morbid curiosity thing...
O God! Bloat is awful and PLEASE don't blame yourself...it can come on sudden and the chances are always so slim for recovery. It's a true heartbreak. I am sad for you.
Always remember every loving and happy minute and second you spent with Kam, for those moments in life are the most precious! And may these sweet memories in your heart heal your pain.
Running free at the Bridge, until we all meet again...
