Front paws, #1, screamed like a banshee all 4 nails, #2, squirmed but stopped screaming.
Back paws, nail #1, pinkie nail - clip, scream, squirm, blood drop, CRAP! I tried to put a kleenex on it but that took too long so I just finished the rest of the paw and the other back paw while I had him used to the process. Even after the bleeder, he was calm and didn't struggle for the rest of the back paws while I kept looking at the bleeder...freaking myself out
Finished nails, called him into the kitchen for treats and he is back to happy Forrest. I noticed he was still spotting the floor when he walked about a minute after the clipping ended, not much blood but a mess for the carpet. Took him outside because it was about that time and I needed a minute to think about what to do....seal w/ super-glue...no, life threatening situations only, cauterize, no, there was no way I could manage holding him and applying the hot poker/flame - I've done it to myself and it hurts like $*^@!...but it works.
So, after our walk we come in, he hops in the bathtub for his foot washing and the claw is still bleeding...I washed it, dried it and looked...not bad, but still drop...drop...drop.
So I looked in the medicine cabinet - Ban Aid Clear Strips, multi-pack....hmmm....
What the heck, looked through the pack, found a band aid about the size of a stamp, wrapped it around the nail thinking that, #1, there is no way this will stick, and. #2, he won't leave it on there....WRONG! The band aid stuck really well and Forrest just walked away, didn't pay attention to it being on his toe/nail at all.
I examined it 30 minutes later and the bleeding stopped. I didn't get the padded part of the band aid over the tip of the nail but the adhesive part did the trick and I'm still amazed. I guess sometimes the simplest things work the best.
