Hey! I have a question!
You rehomed Jaeger in Australia, right?
How come Austin is docked? |

Hello! My parents are keeping Roma for us so we havent had to give her up. I updated my profile a little early actually - I leave on Friday and I'm really excited!
How are the girls?
thanks Ange Glad to hear that Rube is getting better!
Slade's mom- Yep, Jag lives in Perth now. Austin is a year older than Jager and I think some states are exempt from the docking ban. And it's probably better they have different tails - quick and easy way to tell them apart |

OOooo! I know (puts hand up) Austin would be docked because docking only became illegal in 2004. So I'd say that Austin would have been born before the law came in. You occasionaly still see puppies with tails docked which breeders cite "for scientific purposes". |

I'm in NSW where it is illegal to dock and Roxy and Shelby were docked????
I noticed that the breeders lastest litter (7 weeks) are docked too. I'm shocked that they could actually find a vet that would do it.... |

Docking is banned AUSTRALIA WIDE... despite some people saying that there was/is a loophole in a couple of states, WA being one of them...
Despite this ban, there are some breeders out there who continue to dock... it is becoming less and less though...
and as for finding a vet to do them, there are breeders (often more experienced than a vet) who would do their own tails... but i am not sure how they could cite the excuse that they had it done for prophyactic purposes...
I saw a baby rotty pup in the ring the other day... with a full docked tail.
Mooks There is currently no rule for showdogs, at least in WA, that they must be docked... in Vic, the rule was that they could not be shown if docked after November or Dec (i think) 2007... however this is still a legislative rule not a canine controlling body rule and I am not sure how they intend to enforce it unless they plan on having the RSPCA at every show
BTW, i am PRO docking... or at least, PRO CHOICE
oh, and lastly, JtW, great pics! I am still yet to meet your boy!!
Best of luck with your move! |
