This is our new Muttaraner! Say hello to No Name Puppy!
This little boy is about 10 weeks old, and is skin and bones. He was listed as a Weimaraner, but the length and way he holds his ears is a bit reminiscent of a Dane... I wasn't sure I really wanted to post about him just yet, but he is so darn cute. He won't be getting a name until about 10-14 days have passed.
No Name was adopted from a local kill shelter here. The reason we are waiting on a name is because there is a very good chance he was exposed to both distemper and parvo. Both of which have an exceptionally high fatality rate as well as being highly contagious. And in his condition, either of which will almost certainly be fatal. And although our adult dogs are fully vaccinated and healthy, the puppy is being quarantined in our master bathroom (he also has hook and round worms). We are trying to not get too attached, but that is pretty impossible for us.
The local shelter originally was not going to adopt ANY puppies out at the shelter because of the outbreak of distemper and parvo, but I managed to sweet talk my way into getting him anyway. I figured the best chance he had was to get out of the environment as soon as possible to prevent contamination, if he hadn't already been exposed. Not to mention, at the local shelter, any signs of major disease is almost a sure death sentence. They will not "waste" resources trying to save dogs at a kill shelter.
This is the second day we have had him. So far, there are no signs of disease. Temperature is holding at about 101.4. Please keep him in your thoughts.
There are more pictures available in my album.

First words out of my mouth?...AWWWWWWWWWW!
I mean it, he is adorable. The freckles suit him ( that is freckles, right?) on his leg and paws. In any case, good luck and keep us posted.
Cute album. He looks like he is always asking a question. |

Thanks everyone!
Temperature is still holding at normal at 101.4. Tonight would have been the 5th full day we have had him, and likely the 8th day since his first potential exposure.
We aren't out of the woods yet, but things are looking promising. I think I will allow him to have contact with our other dogs for the first time tonight. |

That is great news!! He is just soo cute.
He looks like he may have some Bluetick Coonhound in him. He looks a lot like a female BTCH I saw on another site.
I will continue to send loving healing thoughts his way...let us know when he has a name...... |

He still seems to be doing well. He has gained 2 lbs. However, I have discovered that he has a tapeworm as well. So we called up the vet last night and got a different dewormer that takes care of tapeworm. That should help him put on weight a little faster. |

I think the picture of him sitting up should be made into a poster, it's too cute. I'd buy one. Glad to hear he's holding his own

He is beautiful. Maybe he is mixed with a blue heeler? I don't know my dogs too well, but the speckled coloring looks like a friend of mines blue heeler. I sure hope he gets well and can lead a long full life. Kas is getting big...I gotta get some photos uploaded on here, but I haven't had time due to just getting home from Vegas baby...too bad I didn't win a million |
