I know you're in a tough situation but as a last resort I would try intense dog training and if that does not work then I would then give her up.
Having previously been in a similar situation, I had a cocker spaniel that I got as a puppy and needless to say over the years her behavior kept getting worse. I tried correcting her bad behaviors, I tried fixing her, getting another dog, taking her for long walks, and even having a dog trainer come out to my home. The training did help but it was not enough to get her to stop being aggressive. Finally after she got out one day and attacked my neighbor’s dog and took like a chunk out of it and I had a big vet bill to pay, I throw in the towel and took her to get euthanized. I was afraid of the same thing that what if she attacked and seriously hurt someone and I got sued. I also felt that I had no one that would want to take her so that's what I chose.
But like I said, I would try intense training as a last resort and especially since I'm a big fan of The Dog Whisperer. Good luck with your decision. |
