My vent of the day....

I'm walking my kids this morning through the neighborhood. It's early- like 8 am. We walk around a turn in the road and what do we see- another weim trotting up the road. (Please note, we are walking in a usually busy subdivision). I try to call her to me, but she's afraid of Zehen and Zuna who are tugging at the end of the leashes to get to her. She crosses the road, and keeps going. I try to go after her but a car goes by and I have my hands full with the two Z's and just can't get to her. As she passes, I notice she looks older because she's got some lumps and she's a little overweight and she has a fairly new incision on her side that's all stitched up. She goes down another road and disappears behind a house.

I keep walking and then turn around. When I'm going past that area again, there's a woman out walking. She stops me and asks if I lost my dog yesterday or if he got out (talking about Zehen) I tell her know, but I know the dog she's talking about and tell her I saw her this morning too. The lady said she saw the dog running around yesterday morning too.

I go home, put the kids in the house and go back out in my car. I didn't find her. I'm going to go walk that way again this evening. If I find her I'm grabbing her. Her owner obviously doesn't deserve to have her... What "responsible" owner would just let a dog out to run around a busy neighborhood? Or even if she was getting out of the fence how can they not notice? She had some type of surgery or incision repair recently so they have to care about her just a little bit- but a responsible owner would go by the vets orders and LEASH walk her till her sutures could come out.

ARGGGG... I HATE PEOPLE!!!

I hear and understand your frustration, but the owner might not be the only person coming in and out of the house.

My oldest son had a friend over for dinner Friday night. They had been outside and when they came back in the friend didn't close the door. We caught it fast, but Hannah was still outside and could have been gone in a heartbeat. She is still puppy minded when it comes to seeing something she wants and taking off to get it. We got lucky, but there were extenuating circumstances that evening. If no one is looking for this poor girl I would probably get upset with the owners, but accidents happen all the time and it might just be one of those Confused

Having had my Steele take off this past summer, And given as she has just had surgery(the dog your talking about)..Also the other person said she saw her yesterday....Ummmmmm possibly a run away maybe? Question

Wiems do tend to run away/get the wonder lust and get themselves lost. Just a thought.

You're assuming an awful lot. The dog is loose, and obviously scared to be, so it could probably be safe to assume that she isn't loose very often, if ever. Dogs get loose. It happens. Though it's possible the owners suck, it's just as, if not more possible that they're fantastic owners whose dog ran away.

And you don't know they aren't looking for her. The nature of losing something is that it stays lost until you find it. For all you know, they're looking around the clock - but the dog may live miles and miles away . . .

I'd hate to see your reaction if one of yours got away and someone accused you of being a ****ty owner because of it. Or told you you didn't deserve your dogs . . .
