On another weim site, there was a good discussion about backing. This has me wondering about another aspect of bird dogs, and that is Style while hunting. I am wondier what style of hunting your wems employ as far as head cariage, High headed, back level or lower than back level while running?
My preference is High headed I.E head above back level when running, as I feel it gives the dog a better chance to wind wild birds without crowding them, however, all my weims have ran with a backlevel head position, not really high or low. So how bout the rest of you out there, does your bird dog run with a high head, level or low head? |

| Mine tend to go the whole spectrum depending on the cover and conditions. My male is more prone to hunt head up and my female head down. My male is also much more aggressive in the field than my female, who tends to be a little slower and much more methodical. Both end up with about the same # of finds, so I guess it really has no physical impact on success, but is more of a style thing. Funny thing is when on point or backing, my female is head up and male level to down. |

| She hunts with a backlevel head position, especially while running. The only exception is open fields, where she tends to hold her head up high. |

| Mine tend to run with head level, but one dog I rehomed out of 2 NFC's almost always hunted with her head down. |
