Thanks everyone! I really think our dogs will do just fine! But there is that unpredictability that can come with Weims! Marley our Weim/Lab mix is my husbands dog through and through. They bonded as soon as we rescued him because my husband worked at home at the time.
Chloe (Wiem) is my baby. I got her as a puppy and she is almost 2. Still a big baby of course! I have been sleeping on the couch and she gets mad because there is no room for her. But she sticks her nose right on my stomach and just stands there most of the night, waiting to get to snuggle.
Oh I am having a homebirth so the baby will be here right away. No time for dad to bring smells home. I think the dogs will be outside through the whole thing because I know Chloe will throw a fit if she thinks I am in pain. Which I will be! I really can see her being very maternal to the baby though! |

Congrats!! I'm a mom to an almost one year old and it's been fun. It can be done happily.
Before my girl was born I tried silly things like playing baby sounds etc but I don't think it made a difference. What does come in very handy is the Leave It command. I'd highly recommend if you don't have that one someone taught, work on it like crazy before the baby comes. Also work on crate training if you can. There are times when you'll want your little one on the floor without a clumsy dog around.
I've tried to keep things as normal as they can be. I still make time for the things I did with my dogs before my daughter was born because I know they need it. We still do flyball and agility as much as we can.
Walks will change. Instead of worrying about one kid and stray dogs you'll have two. Coder always wants to walk beside my daughter for some reason and she's always grabbing at his leash.
Then in a little while you'll notice your dog getting fat from all the table scraps that fall down. Your child will of course think this is hilarious and keep doing it. Coder has put on two pounds since the girl started eating mostly on her own. I've had to curb this because I don't want any mishaps as she shovels food to him. As I type this he's sitting behind a baby gate upset because food is hitting the floor. It's always nice to have a vacuum though.
Have fun and congrats again! |

Congrats! You must be so excited baby #1.
I have 6 kids and 2 weims. The weims are great with all of them. Its really kinda funny the weims love the crazy daily advents with our big family, they have to be included in everything. |
