What I do to add pics to my post is first copy the URL from wherever you are hosting your pic.
Then when I'm writing my post, I click the "Img" button, then paste the link and then hit the "Img" button again.
Then I preview to make sure it worked! |

LOL...how are you supposed to know unless someone tells you
a URL is simply the website address of where your picture is...
they start with www or http
Most picture hosting sites will provide you with a "link" or a URL and both are the same things. |

If you have Windows XP, a good tool to reduce image size is called "Image Resizer". It's a free download and adds "resize images" to your right click menu. You have some preset choices or can choose your own. Here's a link to the download file from Microsoft and here's a tutorial.
The max avatar size appears is 130 x 130 and less than 10k. Mine started out at 12k (after I cropped/reduced the image to 130x130), but after using the image resizer, it got down to under 6k (select custom size, and enter 130 in both fields - this will reduce the file size but won't mess with the sizing/positioning you've already done.)
For the signature image, the forum states that 210 x 560 is the max. I made my image this large and was greeted with a clickable reduced size image. It looked like it was reduced to around 130h or so like the avatar, so I reduced my image to 130 x 347 (can probably be wider) and then hosted it. NOTE: for signature images, they need to be hosted elsewhere - ie your own hosting, picasa, photobucket, etc. Use the IMG tags in your signature just as if you were posting a pic in a post.
What is the maximum image size that I can imbed in a post without having it resize the image and make it a clickable link to open a new window? 640 x 480 seems pretty small already and it's less than that it appears.
Thx. |
