My name is Jen and I live in Kirkwood MO. My husband and I do not currently have a Weim, but are looking forward to getting one later this year or early next year. We would like to meet others who have Weims and can give us all the info and guidance we need to make this a great experience for all.

About me- I just got married last year. We currently have a small zoo with two Siamese cats, 3 Bearded Dragons, 1 Leopard Gecko and three fancy rats (lol). I really enjoy animals and learning about them. I do some volunteer work with a stray rescue organization, but have always had my heart set on a Weim.

I am looking forward to hearing about everyone and their Weims!

Hi and Welcome,

Ok I'm plugging Heartland again, Please look at their website and if interested contact Angie Pillman she is the MO Coordinator and is in the St, Louis area. Not too far from kirkland. They have been planning a meet and greet. a good way to see weims and talk to their owners. They are also in need of volunteers and foster families.
I hope I don't annoy too many members with all the Heartland plugs but since I'm unable to help them any other way I think letting people know they exist is the best I can do right now.

No problem- I have actually been @ PetCo when Heartland has been there, and have talked to Angie via email regarding a Weim in a shelter. So I am somewhat familiar with the organization. I check their website pretty frequently so I know your dog, Tucker Smile

I have absolutely no qualms with supporting a rescue group. I am kinda on the fence right now about the one I volunteer with, so would love to get involved with Heartland at some point. We are currently unable to foster because we are living in a huge apartment but no yard. We are moving this July however.

Keep me posted on the meet and greet! I would love to talk to other people in the area who love/have this breed! A few friends have Weims from backyard breeders (such the norm here in MO) but aren't "in to" their animals like I am with mine.

I would also like to contact the local breed group and see what they have cookin'. My email has been down for weeks, but I can still post on all my message boards which is SUCH a lifesaver!

Hi and welcome. My name is Heather and I have two males. Riddick just turned 2 and Riley is a little over 3.

I think it is really great that you are really involved and want to be informed about the breed you would be getting into. It's sad how many people don't do the research and then end up getting rid of their dogs because it wasn't what they thought it would be. We got our rescue dog because the man who had him didn't like the fact that he was so clingy and would follow him around. Can you believe that!!

I will warn you, weim are addictive. We got Riddick as a puppy and as soon as my boyfriend would let me, I was searching the rescue pages looking for another one. We rescued Riley a little over 6 months ago and things have been great. I would love to foster a weim in need, but I know that I wouldn't want to give them back. So I will keep my volunteer efforts limited to donations and transporting rescues.

I understand the tight living quarters, but when/ if you do get a bigger place with a backyard you should give fostering a try. It is a great way to learn the breed first hand and not necessarily be stuck if it ends up not working out.

Look forward to getting to know you and sharing some of our crazy weim stories.
