Hello everyone my name is Cathryn and as you can see I am from Buffalo NY! I decided to join this board because I am very interested in the Weimaraner breed. I do not own one but I have come to learn a little more about them because I would love to own one sometime in the future.
Just thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. I am a student at Medaille college and I am going to be Veterinary Technician! I am very excited because I will be liscenced this summer. I am a total animal lover.
Right now I have a little 6lb long coat chihuahua, named Chloe, and my boyfriend and I recently became parents to a German Shorthair Ponter pup , who we named Leroy. He is mostly my boyfriends but I watch him all the time..I just love him! Leroy and Chloe are quite the pair lol as they are two totally different breeds.
But anyways I hope to learn a lot about Weims! If anyone knows of any reputable breeders around the Buffalo, NY area please feel free to send me information or their websites.
Has anyone ever had a GSP.. would you consider them to be simialar to Weims .. if so how and if not why? Leroy is a BALL of energy keeps me busy all the time.. but I LOVE it . My boyfriend and I are very active and always do activities that involve our dogs.
Sorry for such a long post, just excited I found this forum!

PS I know they areb't Weims but I thought I would post of pic of my oddball paired pups

| Welcome to the forum!! Im sure all of your questions will be answered here. Sorry I dont have much knowledge although I believe weims were originally bred from GSP's (ok I could be totally wrong), but I know they are similar. Good luck finding your pup. |

My only experience with GSP's has been chatting with owners at the dog park. We seem to have similar experiences, which leads me to believe that by and large, they have similar exercise requirements and some similar quirks.
I just don't think you could ever top the personality of a weim! They love their people more than any other breed I think! |

Hi and welcome from Long Island. They are so cute together! What a gang! I don't know a lot GSP as well, but I also believe that they are very similar breeds. |

Hi,
I live in Buffalo as well, Orchard Park. We picked up our pup about 1.5 years ago from a local breeder in Eden. It was only his second litter and I don't know how often he was considering it. The dog is amazing though and is breed from champion lines, the price was right also. They were originally bred with GSP's so I believe that the temperament is the same and the level of energy. They will keep you busy, but I have to agree that they are the most loving breed of dog ever, always wants to cuddle up by your side on whatever couch or chair you are sitting on. I don't know if they really like when people post breeder's names on this site, but the guy I went to in Eden is John Sciolino, he doesn't have a web site, but I could get you his phone number. Other than him a lot of people I know who have Weim's have gone to PA or OH for their pups. I rarely see a litter of Weim's in the papers, probably once a year around April or May.
Hope this helps and like I said I can try to look for his number if you want to call him? let me know. . . I swear that once you see 8 little grey rumbling tumbling cuddling balls of Weim waiting to be adopted, your heart will melt and you will fall deep deep in love! It is the best site ever! |

| Cathryn welcome from East Texas. Since you don't already have a Weim have you considered rescue. You can get older dogs and puppies this way, I highly recommend the older dogs they need homes. Can you believe two from Buffalo in the same week, you should get together. |

Welcome to the board.
I really don't know much about GSP so I can't help you out there.
Your babies are super cute and feel free to post pics of them anytime. |
