oh i couldn't figure out how to edit my original 'hello', but here's a quick pic of Yoko.

my first week of owning a weim is completely nuts so far;

-she has 2 "crazy" periods a day - morning and night time crazy freakouts where she runs around in circles, jumps up at me, barks at me (kinda scary), but also plays and has fun (she's doing it right now...chewing the carpet, chewing me...oh there goes someone's wet bathing suit)
-aside from her high energy times, she's a relatively sleepy baby... i guess thats normal since she's still a pup (2 settings for her "off", and "supersonic" i'd say)
-i learned the wonders of a stuffed kong toy...it provided a good hour of busy time for her (thanks to the "safe toy" thread today, lots of good ideas)
-i learned NOT to get out the entire roll of paper towel if i need to clean up something in her crate in the middle of the night...the whole roll turned into a nighttime toy for her

she is a sweet and beautiful puppy... doing great with her 'toilet work' and crate, but awful with the leash and, oh there she goes jumping on the couch...again!

anyhow i'm happy, trying not to be frustrated, and looking eagerly towards obedience class (soon!)

Hi, I am the Vice President of the Rescue in Alabama that took care of Yoko's mom Millie. Millie is in an awesome home now, if you want to see Yoko's mom go to www.weimrescue.com and click on adoptable dogs, Millie's picture is still on there. I wanted you to know the story of Yoko and her seven brother and sisters. Their dad was Beauragard, he was in our rescue only a short time before he passed away. He had been on the streets for a while before a shelter picked him and we pulled him into the rescue, he was full of heartworms and had several other problems that he couldn't fight. Me and two other officers of our rescue drove the puppies for part of their journey to you. We all three fell in love with all of them, they were so sweet laying on each other in their crates. I thought you might want to see Yoko's mom so I wanted to post. Yoko is gorgeous and I love that name. I am a big Beatles fan!

Hi to all of you!

And thanks for the warm welcome. Everyone here has so many tips and bits of good advice...I am lucky to have found you!

And special thanks Tonia for the info on my Yoko. We say she's out little German dog from Alabama with a Japanese name...living up north in Canada.

I have been lucky enough to be on vacation for the past 2 weeks getting to know her well. I'm back to work Tuesday and will miss her. My husband will be on his own with her...wish him luck!

Yes, sad story about her family... but thanks to the awesome and fantastic people and 2 separate weim resuces its happy story for us! I love the fact that there are so many volunteers from rescue organizations on this board. One day... maybe one day... I hope I can contribute back in the same way.

And do we love or hate the Beatles? LOL. We named her as a family and tried to find something that we all agreed on. Anyways we all do love the Beatles and actually considered calling her Ringo... but then thought of Yoko. In Japanese it means "positive" or "good"... so I like to think of it as calling her my "good girl" rather than of Yoko Ono. Lets just hope Yoko doesn't break up our family, LOL.

Oh, and we went to our first obedience class the other night. It was at Petsmart so it was pretty 'bland' but overall it was good. The best part was that the kids were all very welcome in the class (my 3 young kids as in the human variety) and the instructor got all of us involved in the class. I have to say that Yoko was the best student of all. I felt for some of the other owners... some of the dogs were barking non stop or pulling to get away. Yoko figured out quick that the instructor had a bag of treats and sat nicely in front of him for most of the class!

Beautiful Pup. We had the same thing with our older puppy Jameson. Running in circles for no reason was always entertaining. Now with the new puppy all that energy gets focused on attacking him.
