| Hey everyone. I have just recently gotten a six week old female Wiem and her name is Bailey. I am new to the Wiem breed, previous dogs were labs and retrievers. I am excited about her because of all the great things I have read about the breed. Any tips you guys have for raising her feel free to let me know! |

Hi and welcome to the board you will love it here. Alot of great advice.
You are in for a wild and fun ride with your new weim. I have 3 and can not imagine my life without one. They are awesome and so smart. Sometimes too smart for their own good .
Tess is my cabinet jumper, no matter what tips and tricks I have been told to use and used...Nothing worked. She still wants whqatever is on the cabninet. They ALL hate cats. They were raised with them and as puppies were fine with them. Now, they will kill a cat in an instant. I have to watch them like a hawk. They also chewed up all the tile in my kitchen. We were going to remoldel, just not at that time. Tess and Duchess had other ideas about that
Anyway, you will have fun... JUST TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN. and then, train some more. They have to have it. Obedience classes are great! |

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm a new weim owner as well and so far it's been a fun/interesting 8 months!
Back in August we lost our 13 year old lab due to cancer...then I got Danni, and she is nothing like Jesse. |

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your new addition.
Take a look at
http://weimclubamerica.org/yourweim/development1.html
The first paragraph of the socialization period mentions removal from the litter. You will have to take the place of mom and teach your dog some of the things littermates and mom would have taught since she left the litter early. Do you have other dogs?
Also,

Free downloads of an Ian Dunbar book which is VERY good. The free download is about before you get your puppy but it covers housebreaking, alone training and chewtoy training. Also there are exerpts from his other books which are freely downloadable here
