how is the new food going for your pups and what food did you decide on? hooch just finished his first bag of the new canidae, and he is a little gassier than normal, and his poo is paler and stinkier.. and really mushy at night.. so, i am going to switch him to wellness core, the poultry based one or the wellness super 5 mix.. or a mix of both.. going to talk to the lady at the natural pet food store i frequent..
i know many of you switched recently.. it seems like a lot of cali natural users now.. how is everyone's coats, eyes, ears, gas?
hooch has no issues on canidae in these departments, so i am a little hesitant to switch.. but i think since they switched the formula, without notice, and his tummy is not as good as it was, i have to find a new brand, too.. |

still on my last bag of canidae... headed to california natural.
i have a bag of it in the closet. whenever i cant find the girls, they are usually standing in the kitchen, heads in the closet, sniffing the bag.
we shall see how it does on their tummies. |

| T- I think Lynn has Jake on Core. we were thinking of switching B n J to it, but they are doing pretty good on Nat Bal Sweet potatoe and fish... they were getting too gassy and mushy, too...they were on NB Ultra Premium formula, though NOT Canidae... |

We switched to Innova and they now have gas! I hate to keep switching foods, so we might just stick with it. |

she does.. it's the never ending quest for perfect poo!!
cali natural is great for sensitive bellies, because of the limited ingredients.. i like the idea of the sweet potato, kale, broccoli, blueberries, apples, etc that core and canidae offer along with the probiotics.. i might keep him on a mix of the 2 if he does real well.. i think innova and the nb ultra are richer.. that might explain gas and mush.. maybe canidae got richer in their formula as well.. who knows..
the amount to feed for the core vs. canidae is less.. so just a reminder to check the labels for all of you that are switching brands.. i almost forgot, myself.. |

Ugh - not good is the most appropriate answer! We tried Innova months ago and she didn't like it so I'm not going to bother going that route again. Right now I have a plethora of Merrick (Turducken, Grammy's Potpie, Campfire TroutFeast, Cowboy Cookout, and Wilderness Blend) as they had 2 lb bags for a couple bucks each - and I've been doing 1 cup old formula Canidae 1 cup new food, alternating thru all the various flavors to find her favorite but MAN is she gassy! I also have a 5 lb bag of new formula chicken and rice Canidae which she does not like at all.
We got samples of Prarie which will be the next in a week or so...and if that doesn't work, I would like to try Orijen after that. |

| We had Wilson on Cal. Natural and he loved it. The only problem was we didn't like his gas. He was very very stinky and it really didn't seem to agree with him. His poops were always runny. They were never firm when he was on it. We switched to Pro Plan and he likes it alot. His poops are nice and firm and he isnt gassy. But there was definatly something in Cal. Natural the he liked cause he always ate every bit of it. I just think it was to rich for his tummy. |

| The new Canidae didn't agree with Gracie - lots of gas, stinky breath, etc. We switched to Orijen and now everything is a-okay again. I can't do Cal-Natural with Gracie because it contains Barley and/or Rice, depending on the formula. |

Which of the Innova foods did you change to? If it's a chicken based food, it could be that they are sensitive to chicken - no matter which food it's in. Or maybe it hasn't been long enough for them to adjust to it. I would give them at least 4 to 6 weeks. Unless they have bad diarrhea or are not improving at all.
Most of the brands now have alternate proteins which might work better for them. |

My breeder told me that stinky breath (when not due to dental disease) is usually from the food they are eating that may not be digesting properly. I agree, I wish Canidae had not changed as well! |

Has anyone Considered or Use Eagle Pack? Zeik & Jasmine do Great on it.
It is made here in Northern Indiana, I have never heard of anyone that has had any issues with it. There are some coupons on their website for a buck off! |
