| It sounds like he might have mange. I would keep him separated from your girls until you find out for sure. I think that mange can be contagious(though I'm not entirely sure). It also could be that he has fleas really badly and might be allergic to them. Poor guy. I'm so glad you picked him up. Keep us updated. |

My sisters son had sprayed Beau with "Axe" cologne. I don't know why, didn't even ask...
I am wondering if that could be why he is all red and losing his hair. He sprayed him all over and gave him a bath in the "AXE" shampoo. It is a really strong smelling deodorant shampoo, I think, I do know it smells really strong.
Anyway, I have kept him from the girls until we know what this is.
He is so happy to be in the house, though. He is sleeping in his new kennel at night and loves it. He acts really hungry when we went to feed him yesterday. He did not get the food he needed when he was with my sister, I don't think because, he is underweight.
But, as far as her saying he was/is aggressive, So far, I know it has only been a day, he has shown no aggression whatsoever. Toward anyone or anything, I don't know!!! I guess time will tell.
Thanks again... I love this forum. |

| It could be that shampoo. If it were me I would probably rinse him off with nice warm water because they might not have gotten all the shampoo off. Also in regards to him being underweight, I wouldn't be surprised if he has worms. I would have the vet do a full checkup to make sure he's not got the worms or any other parasites. So glad he's with you now! |

Took Beau to the vet yesterday. He did have worms... Got him wormed and a follow up dose today. The vet seems to think that his "rash" is from the shampoo, possibly grass allergies and fleas!!!
Got him tested for heart worms... O.K. there, thank goodness. He is on a preventative, the same as the girls. Heartguard. We bathed him in an all natural shampoo that is PH balanced and then came home from the vet and bathed him again and put a cortisone cream on the spots, Drs. orders.
He seems to be doing great.
There have been no aggression issues, as I had been so worried about.
He is so loving.
I did find a spay/neuter clinic, but, they only have them once a month. He will go the 14th of April. He stays inside with us, so getting to another dog will be hard. He goes out on a leash, even though we live on 21 acres. Don't want to take chances that he will run and find a friend!
He is such a sweetie. My 13 year old son LOVES him very much. Beau is sleeping with him. |

| oatmeal shampoo can be a good way to go as well. it does well for ours - other shampoos, even puppy formulas, tended to cause Zoe's feet and belly to break out. best of luck! |
