| at this rate, canidae wont have to worry about their increased demand for product... they can go back to making the food on their own after they lose all their customers. |

| I haven't really noticed a difference besides when I just bought my last 2 bags they have changed the bag sizes. Now it's 44 lb or 30 something pound bags and the price went up. So they've been bought out by someone else huh? I'll have to keep an eye on things. |

I found this on another message forum regarding the switch.
Just confirmed it with the company. Here is their e-mail response to my inquiry:
Due to overwhelming customer support and increased demand on our products, we have been faced with unique production capacity challenges. Our growing customer support and demand has pushed for increased capacity, therefore we have outsourced additional production from Diamond Pet Foods. Our customers demand and deserve no less than the highest quality safe ingredients, as well as state of the art consistent manufacturing. Outsourcing additional production from Diamond comes not without first carefully instating and accepting only the strictest testing protocols, as well as mandating stringent operating procedures to ensure the highest quality products possible at every level of production. We are very happy with this relationship and the high quality formulations we are able to bring to you.
Expect Excellence!
Sincerely,
Team Canidae |

| I just fed my dogs and they didn't even eat it! Very very strange..... They've been on this new bag for a couple of days and it seemed okay. The food does look different though. Does anyone know for sure if they've changed the ingredients? |

According to their website, they have increased the protein a little and decreased and changed the carbs.

When we were feeding Canidae a couple of years ago, I mentioned to a holistic vet that Canidae had made a change in their food, but there was no information on line or the package... She said they were known for doing that. |

I noticed a big difference in color and immediately called corporate and they told me they changed ingredients. The CSR said it was still good for the pets and it was mainly b/c of the economy. I told her that was the wrong answer and I am taking my dog off of Canidae due to the economy as well!
That's bad business and I don't need my dogs food company changing their ingredients every time they need to save a buck! Her stool was very loose for two weeks. Poor lil sensitive tummies they have!
I propose a Canidae BOYCOTT!!!!!! |

I wish I had read all this before I bought a bag of the "new and improved" formula. I just opened it this morning, but the first thing that pissed me off is that I can't get it in 40 lbs anymore. The stopped making them. The biggest they have is 35 lbs, which means more frequent trips to the store! Have not yet noticed if the change in the formula has affected my dogs yet, but they are prone to gas and loose stools, so if that changes, I will have to explore a different brand.

Jager still has bad diarrhea, bad gas, and this morning he refused to eat his food which is completely unlike him. I just purchased this food a week or two ago. I got on the website and it says:
| Quote: | All of our products are made the “CANIDAE Way” with superior quality in every bag and can, with NO corn, wheat, soy, grain fractions, fillers or by products – and naturally preserved!
If you are not completely satisfied with any of our products, please return the unused portion with the receipt to the place of purchase for a complete refund or replacement |
Seriously I am taking this back today!!![/quote][/b] |

| I brought my bag of "new" Canidae back after feeding it to my dogs for about a week. Eye boogers for Kali, gas for Banshee, and loose stools for ALL. I got a full refund. The thing that pisses me off the MOST about the "new and improved" Canidae is that the 40 lb bag is no longer available--and the 35# bag is the SAME PRICE (as the 40# was!)!! Luckily, another store had 3 bags of 40# (old formula) left, so we bought them all. Now I don't have to figure out what to SWITCH to for another month or so!!! All the grain-frees are SO expensive!! |

We gave the new Candaie formula a shot with Linkin and we will be switching foods. Linkin seems to really like it, but he has had loose stools the entire time and is very gassy. His fur has changed a bit too. It's more coarse and not as shiny.
It's to bad because he did so well on the old formula. I'm not sure what we will be feeding him. We're looking through the old threads for some ideas. |

I will! It's so hard to know which food to try. It was easy when we started on Canadie. So many people on the forum recommended it and it was wonderful... while it lasted. We will have to decide soon, because he's almost out of food. |

We are now back to Innova Large Breed Adult for Rosko (11months).
This time around he is doing MUCH better on it. I think it may have been a little rich for him when we first switched from the Innova to 'original' Canidae. Now, he actually really likes the taste and gets excited to eat it (the Innova). He's also rock solid on it, whereas when he was 5 months it was soft stool.
We are hoping to go to a 50/50 diet of Raw and the Innova in the near future; however. |

| As of yesterday I switched Blitz over to Pro Plan at the advice of my vet. Blitz was on Canidae and was doing great at first but lately he has been pawing at his face alot and just not wanting to eat. He seems to like the little bit of proplan I put with his canidae and it helps him eat most of his food. It was to the point where he was only maybe eating less than half his normal intake. Also reintroduce fish oil and he already seems to be doing better. He tends to have allergies especially on his feet and the vet said he will do better on the lamb based food. The vet really did not give me a choice on this one. He said he is not a big fan of Canidae and my vet is one that loves his animals like I do. Once I asked him ways to get the dog off the bed and his response was....Get a bigger bed so needless to say he would not steer me wrong. |
