| Rocky was on Canidae and he did not do well on it. His stool was not good. You might want to try Enova Ivo or Wellness. I did not like the rice in Canidae because i know that its used a binder and not as smth that the dog would need in their diet. Think about it, do wolves ever eat rice? |

| We just took Wilson off of Canidae chicken and rice. We are now feeding him California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato. He loves it! We had noticed that he would no longer eat the Canidae...it went on for a few weeks (along with some skin issues), things seem to be working good on the CN. |

This is a pet peeve of mine. I hate to start a debate but do Weims (or most other breeds) really look like wolves. I definitely don't have wolves sleeping in my bed. Domestication occurred between 12000-15000 years ago. There is still a large debate whether dogs are a subspecies of Canis lupus or a separate species. Taxonomy is often reviewed since human made classifications are subject to error. Yes, they share the same genes however gene expression is significantly altered and that results in significant changes physiologically, biochemically and physically. --end rant-- |

| Yeah I thought I was doing a good thing w/ the Evo, cus I won't do raw, but it seemed hard on their tummy. And I think this is why Sky always stole bread off the table. |

Hi guys,
I did not mean to piss anyone off, so sorry if i did. I was just expressing what little i know! I have not had time to get out my books and quote what i have read and researched so maybe some other day i will, but for now its just how i feel, especially having grown up with my mom being a vet.
The vet told us as well to give Rocky rice and chicken or beef while he was sick but the problems got worse, then we found out that he could not tolerate all grains, including rice. That's all i was trying to say. I think Canidae is good food and i wish Rocky would have tolerated it because i would not be where i am today, feeding raw and constantly cleaning. |

I think my kids need the grain or else they have upset tummys! And the poop patrole guy said poops are firmer now on Innova, than Innova Evo.
I was just joking re: wolves ordering chineese food... in case u didn't know. HA HA.... like how can they order chineese food, they don't have thumbs! |

You by no means pissed me off -- just a pet peeve -- and I'm always game for a good discussion. I have my opinion and others have theirs. Even the taxonomists can't agree. I have some wolf experience (captive that is) and all I can say is I am happy my dogs aren't wolves. Beautiful creatures in the wild though and that's where they belong. |

too bad I'm late to this discussion... but... here's my story
We have Rosko on Canidae All Life like many here... He initially went crazy for it and really loved it; however, the last couple bags have seen a big drop in interest. I have basically trained him to 'eat his food' as a result just by saying it to him so much!
Rosko recently got really sick. Don't know everything, but a lot had to do with what the vets and us suspect is a inflammed disc in his back (who knows how he did this.. just woke up one morning trembling and not wanting to move). Nothing is proven.
As a result he wouldn't eat... The Canidae at least. He would eat certain treats and DEVOURED moist dog food (nutro or something). We had some frozen samples of raw from a reputable lady up in Park City we thought we'd try (*heck*, why not, his stomach was already all over the place anyway and he already was making pudding regularly). His lethargy subsided significantly, his eyes brightened a ton and his poop was the best we'd seen in a LONG time. All from 16 oz of raw food over the course of a day. Switching him back to Canidae (he's getting better and would now eat it again, although begrudgingly) we've seen his poop go back to soft serve and his lethargy begin to return.
At first we thought it was the drugs; however, he was on the drugs during the raw period also.
For us there is no questioning left. Rosko is going raw. The hard part for us now is trying to figure out how to afford it. The lady in park city is willing to work with us on making it more affordable but it means purchasing a new freezer (we don't have much space in our current one) to store it.
Regardless what happens... Rosko is done with Canidae. They did something, I don't know what, that has totally turned the dog off to the food and caused it to disagree with him much more often (he had good poops with the first bag). |

| This could be a coincidence, (or maybe pollen in the air or something) but Ace has been eating Canidae for about a month now and he's got yucky eye goobers like I've never seen! I'm almost constantly wiping his eyes....WTH? |

Yeah, again, coincidence or not (and I can't even pinpoint when we began the Canidae with the new formula) but it seems that the new stuff isn't as appealing anymore and I've noticed she has softer stools.
Question: Will their bodies adjust to it, or is it time to go on a search for new kibble in your minds? |
