I know where your at with this, I live down near Watkins Glen and lost my Steele about a week ago for 12+ hrs! And if you know the finger lakes it's rural to say the least, I walked and walked and drove and drove and could not find her! How helpless it feels.

Thankfuly she came home on her own, paw pads blistered, bug bites, and smeared in cow poop! But I had my girl back.

Get ahold of Jen W. at N.Y.S.W.R., I'll check my local area, It's not that far from you.

I think they don't routinely list them through their Petfinder site, but they might if you ask..

Here's an example: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11062536

I did post her under their classified/lost and found section. I emailed Jen Wilkinson and sent her pics, she said she would post her for me.

Is it very likely that someone took her out of your yard? Is your yard secure/fenced that it would have taken some effort to get her??

If you have any inclination that someone may have taken her, I would also contact the police. Just is case she is seen somewhere with someone that claims to be her owner, you have a police report.

No, my yard is not THAT secure....she must have scampered off chasing something or she got a scent of something...I wasn't home, so I really have no clue ...And I was going to take her with me that afternoon too, she hates the car and I figured I'd give her some practice, but there would not have been enough room for her, so I changed my mind....hindsight! I do think someone has her though. The city I live in is very small and there are only 4 Weims total here. The other 3 are full grown adults. I keep asking my Lab where she is...he just looks at me like I have a 3rd eye...If only dogs could talk!!!!!!!!!

Keep posting as many flyers as you can put them up at all of the grocery stores, gas stations, places where EVERYBODY has to go.

Someone saw my ad on CL about Suede and they called me and said their Neighbor had a Weimaraner that they had never seen before chained and padlocked to a tree in their backyard (neighbor had no idea the dog was there BTW).

So get as many flyers out as you can because if she was stolen or found somebody that sees that flyer may remember seeing a neighbor with a new Weim.

Also, Suede was found 40 miles away from where he was lost.

If someone has her, they are probably looking for you too. When my son' sdog was lost a few year ago, my children posted HUNDREDS (500 or more) of fliers around South Philadelphia.

Long story short, she got out of the apartment with no collar or tags on. She walked herself a few blocks to the schoolyard where Eddie always took her. Ed was only minutes behind her.....by the time he got up there, people told him a man in white van took her Shocked

We had no idea where she was...turned out that man saw one of the fliers (after two weeks) he had taken her to a shelter less than a mile from me....He did not want to leave her on the city streets...BUT he didn't tell any of the people around where he was taking her. By the time he contacted us, Philly had been adopted, but the family gave her back to us....

Get fliers all over your neighborhood...big ones with pictures.

Philly was a celebrity because of those fliers. For months after she was found when Ed would walk her, people would say "hey that looks like that dog that was on all those signs."

As my kids where going around taking the fliers down, people kept coming up to them saying how glad they were that she was found.

I really, really hope you find Pepper.

I had my first weim puppy four days when I went to work leaving her in a fenced back yard. I came home to no dog. I was not familiar enough with the breed at the time to to understand she could have taught Houdini a trick or two. Like you, I was dstraught! I called the Vet, checked with all the neighbors, walked our usual paths and nothing. I called the Seattle Humane Society the next morning about my lost dog and I got lucky. A local hardware store reported the had a stray gray dog. I called and yes they described my Heidi but since no one had claimed her by the end of the business day, she had gone home with a customer. Later the hardware store called back with a phone number of a lady to call and my dog and I were reunited.

As it turned out she had climbed a 7 foot fence to escape and wander lust had taken her 2 miles away to the hardware store for a handout and some attention. Go figure.

I thereafter spent a lot of effort escape proofing my yard but when Heidi did get out, she would travel.

Lot's of fliers, postings on grocery store bulletin boards and just plain sleuthing.

Best of luck

I'm not sure if it's an option for you or not but, a reward seems to do wonders here for lost dogs...and if someone did take her, it may entice them to return her...
