| My Weim is now almost 5 months old. She has been on Science Diet large breed puppy food since I got her. I've been doing research into SD and have found that is NOT a good choice for food. So here is my question to you... What brand can you reccommend that will not break the bank?? My Lab now eats Natures Recipe... Any opinions on that brand?? I also supplement their kibble with yogurt, steamed veggies and sardines/canned salmon. Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA. |

I like Solid Gold. They make a variety of types, although I only feed them kibble in the A.M.
I've also heard Canidea is good food, but maybe a little harder to get. |

What to feed is a tough one, a matter of trying to see what works best. We currently have Kam on Nature's Recipe but he's having some bowel problems. It may or may not be the food (he's on antibiotics), I just need to give it some time. I've had my samoyed on Science Diet for years. It's the only thing she can tolerate and any type of change had to be introduced very slowly. We even had to switch her from one type of SD to the lamb & rice. Now she's on the senior type and doing well with it. However, SD wouldn't be my 1st choice, just because of some things I read - but you go with what works, regardless of the name. Both Anne and Grey Ghost suggested Innova EVO, so that will be my next attempt if Kam is not tolerating Nature's Recipe. There are alot of recommendations throughout the forum. Happy reading |
