I took Lincoln out to pee at 5:30am since he was pawing at his crate. He pooped and peed and went back inside. I had to almost drag him back upstairs to his crate (not totally unusual, since he's 6.5 months and likes to challenge me lately.)

Then he kept fussing in his crate, getting up, flopping down, pawing etc but we kept shushing him since he had just gone out. This went on until 7:30 when I was ready to get up. I let him out of his crate and normally he runs downstairs for breakfast, but this morning he jumped into bed. So we cuddled for a bit. Then I called him to come downstairs and he jumped off the bed and fell right to the ground. Then he got back up and it looked like he was standing on slippery ice (we have slipper floor upstairs but he's never had a problem with it). He made it to the top of the stairs, but then I got nervous that he would fall down them, so I got in front of him, but he wouldn't go more than a couple stairs as he was so unsteady.

Hubby carried him downstairs and in the light we could see that the muscles in his back legs were twitching uncontrollably and he could barely stand....

Does anyone have any idea? He ate his breakfast fine and he's been pottying fine...

We have a vet appt for 2pm.

I'm hoping that Lincoln just had too much fun on his snow day the other day and has a pulled muscle.

Try not to worry, good thing you have a vet appt soon.

Thinking of you guys today, take care and update when you can!

Oh no! How is his disposition otherwise? Is he eating, drinking the same - does he seem depressed?

I'm sure the vet will do it anyways, but you might ask to get a blood test at the vets, as tick-borne illnesses sometimes come on suddenly like that....goodluck I hope it turns out OK.

Lincoln could have hurt a disc in his neck when he jumped off of the bed. Have the vet check his neck carefully.

That's a thought, however he was wobbly before he jumped up, I just didn't recognize it until after he started walking more as sometimes when he's excited he slips on the floor.

He seemed a little upset about the fact that he couldn't stand up or go down the stairs, but he wasn't "spacey" or lethargic or anything.

We're keeping an eye on him, getting him up periodically to see if he's getting better.

Last time we checked he could actually stand up on the hardwood which was a good sign. Breeder seems to think it's a muscle strain or something..keeping my fingers crossed!

Also keeping my fingers crossed than it is nothing more than being the product of an exuberant Weimy. Give the boy a belly scratch from Taren and I.

this may be late, but we had BOTH of our girls wake up like this about 2 years ago. it was early fall because we had one of our first cold nights after a long evening of playing. in the AM they both acted like they couldnt move their hips/back legs. it was over the weekend so we had few vet options... we just rode it out a bit. by the end of the day they were doing pretty well. the next day they were back to normal. hasn't happened since. i have video somewhere... perhaps even on youtube.
