this may be late, but we had BOTH of our girls wake up like this about 2 years ago. it was early fall because we had one of our first cold nights after a long evening of playing. in the AM they both acted like they couldnt move their hips/back legs. it was over the weekend so we had few vet options... we just rode it out a bit. by the end of the day they were doing pretty well. the next day they were back to normal. hasn't happened since. i have video somewhere... perhaps even on youtube.

THANK YOU for posting this! I was just coming on here to tell everyone that he's almost back to normal, and that I didn't end up taking him to the vet, just thought we'd ride it out. But I didn't want people to think I was neglecting him by not taking him to the vet!

It's still totally mysterious, but I talked to the vet this morning and he thought it was just a muscle strain or something and our breeder said the same thing, and I'm home now and he greeted me at the door same as always!

Thanks for your support guys!!

This is great news. It was probably just a muscle thing.

I am glad that he is better.

When Starr was a puppy she went through this where just one day she didn't want to walk anymore. She just laid around (this is actually how we got her out of her crate). We took her to the vet and they were thinking it might be something neurological and luckily I talked to my cousin who also had a Weimaraner and their Weim just had "growing pains". From where Starr grew so fast she was in a ton of pain and she stopped walking. Her legs were like rubber bands, she lost almost all of her muscle in her back legs, it was SO sad to see a puppy act this way. We started giving her pain pills and within a few days she was back to normal and started getting her muscle back in her legs, but it was the scariest thing with her. I just sat with her and would cry when I got home from work each night. That might be why I have such a special bond with her. She is my baby girl and I would do anything for her. Not that I don't love my other dogs, but there is just something special between Starr and I.

I wonder if Starr had a mild case of HOD??? We had a boy in rescue a few years ago. His name is Tommy. Julie said he came from a pet store Twisted Evil that could not sell him because there was something obviously wrong with his feet/legs. Julie called me because she thought it might be HOD. When I saw him, I didn't think so because the case looked so different than what I had seen in Scout.

Anyway, it turned out to be a mild case of HOD and Tommy is fine now. We saw him at the last Tri State Picnic.

Thanks everyone!

And oh yeah, don't worry, you wouldn't BELIEVE the amount of treats this boy has gotten today! You just always want to spoil them when they're under the weather!

He's a lot better now. Lincoln is my first dog and when he wakes up and can't stand up, needless to say I get a little worried. I'm lucky to have great breeders who give us endless support, and this awesome board to get suggestions and ideas from!

Christina - Lincoln did have a little bit of Pano (growing pains) as a younger puppy...wonder if the episode this morning is at all related...he didn't seem in obvious pain at all today though and when he had pano he would scream in pain (heartbreaking!).

Aww...that is so sad. I am glad he is doing better though.

I actually just learned of HOD. From what Starr had and was doing it sounds like she might of had a bit of that going on. But she is okay now.

I love Tommy... we picked him up and had him for 2 days before he went to Julie, Joe and ultimately Ed! (We also named him... after Tommy the pinball wizard because his paws looked like flippers and he used to bat June around like a pinball!!... I am soooooo happy Ed kept his name!)

I never knew that!! I thought Julie named him. I fell in love with him. We got to have him overnight for 1 night because he was going to my vet.
