Hello from Owensboro KY

Postby ihlenfea » Thu Feb 25, 2010 4:45 pm

Hello! I am so glad I came across this site.. I was googling.. "eye boogers" weimaraners... and this site popped up! .... As you can guess, my two girls seem to have a lot of eye boogers lately, and I'm not sure why! They don't seem to bug them... but they just seem a little red-er then normal.

My name is Ali, and I live with my boyfriend and our two weimaraners. We recently moved here from Chicago, and the deal was if I was to move with him, I would get a puppy!... So we got Bayliss, she is now 10 months old, and FULL of energy!!! I thought she needed a friend as she seems to have real problems with separation from me. My trainer told me that she knew of someone who was trying to find a weimaraner a new home.. they couldn't take care of her anymore, and didnt have the time that she needed... we met up with the family, and had a little "test run" weekend, and the girls got along great!! Dottie is 19 months old, and such a great girl!

I have done some basic training with them and I plan on starting agility in the spring... but I'm always looking for more ideas.. they never seem to run out of energy!!

I'm very excited to talk with everyone and get more ideas, and to learn so much! I am so bummed I didnt find this sooner! I feel as if I have lots of reading to do!!

Wanted to add a picture of the family, but I can't seem to figure out how! Help please :)

Thanks,
Ali

Hi from Indiana!

What I do for pics is upload them from my computer to your gallery album here on WA. Then when you post there's 2 image buttons. The one "g2Img" will open up the gallery so you can then pick from there. Just use the preview button to make sure its looks ok. I know there are other ways but that's all I know...

Well thats a whole different topic in itself. I had the girls on raw food for a while.. and then Dottie got horribly sick to the point she was on IV's and almost transferred to Louisville for 24 hour care... She is better but we dont know what ever caused it.. We tested the food, and at the time I had them on Natures Variety Raw Patties, and the current bag of food they were on was Chicken... we found a lot of bacteria in the food and stuff, but nothing extremely toxic. I was informed a week or so later that Nature's Variety willingly called back several bags of raw food for salmonella. My vet at this point begged me to put the dogs on a kibble. (She didn't agree with it from day one.) Since then I have tried several different foods. They were on Acana Pacifica... they seemed to like that... I then tried to switch to the grasslands just for variety.. they became WAY TOO gassy. I then tried Orjien Adult, and my puppy Bayliss (10 months) didnt seem to care for it. Dottie would eat it, but still gassy. I currently have Dottie (19 months) on Natures Variety Instinct Rabbit. Bayliss I have mix the Rabbit formula with the Innova Dry Puppy food. I mix them half and half and Bayliss seems to like it. What I am going to try next I'm not sure.... any suggestions???? I really liked the Acana and The Orjien but they seemed to have loose stool a lot....

besides that I give them Zukes training treats, blueberries, carrots, and Sojo grain free dog biscuits. I let them chew on bully sticks a couple times a week, and I fill there kongs with organic plain yogart, cottage cheese and organic peanut butter...

No table scraps at all. I just dunno why they have goopy eyes lately...

Help please! Any suggestions? They dont seem to but them.. and there eyes do seem a little red-er but I dunno what to do..... I can take them to the vet if needed, but I feel as if I'm always there... it's only been a couple days with the goopy eyes.

Welcome from Champ and Tammy in Texas!

I feed Champ Innova and he just loves it. My son feeds his Cocker Spaniel Taste of the Wild, which is another good kibble.

Welcome, from coastal NC!
When I adopted Romy he had goopy eyes, but they cleared up
almost immediately - maybe from the food change.
But some of the very knowledgeable folks on here will be able
to help.

Hi welcome from Texas, I also feed TOTW and have had great results with it.
I have a dog and sometimes I'll be the littlest kid with my dog and marvel at his ears and his nose and how he looks at me. If he died, I'd bawl like a baby.
