Rolling Eyes I'm thinking of getting a Weim puppy - there is one near by that is 10 weeks old - I currently have a German Shorthair Pointer - that is 6 years old - my main concern is I have cats. Is the prey drive with Weims worse than it is for GSP's? I have four cats. I also have lots of land for the Weim to run on - so exercise would not be an issue. I was just wondering if they are more energetic than the GSP. Toonie is really a laid back dog in the house - outside he is a holy terror.

They are both versatile hunting dogs so are generally pretty similar in energy level and with regard to furry animals.

I agree with Anne, I think they are very similar. My weim gets along great with my cat. I got my cat from the shelter when Scout was 2. It took a couple of stressful weeks but since then no problems.

10 weeks old is a great age, the pup will have time to bond with every one from a young age & that will be all he knows when he gets older the rules u put down now.

I think its up to u to put the consistent effort in training the pup from the start & make it very clear what the order of the pack is....You on top!

If the dog thinks he is the Pack leader he may initiate The Hunt on their own (just like wolves) so just never allow that & u will be sweet.

Pls let us know what happens, I think it sounds like u are perfect for a Wei in ur life Puppy face
