Hi Tina, what a cute pup you guys have. I think it's great that you'll were able to talk Teal into your home. Weims can be stubborn little buggers so persistence pays off. Keep her busy with lots of walks and obedience and before you know it she will become a huge part of your family.
BTW, I'm originally from Lake Charles. |

I didn't see this post. Teal is an awesome name for a blue girl. And she is precious.
How big is she?? My girl is between 75 and 80 lbs. I have two boys that are nearly 100lbs and one boy that is 70 lbs. |

Welcome from Nebraska!
Love your blue girl! What a cutie pie!
I loved your first question...about sleeping on a dog bed on the floor...made me chuckle....we have a dog bed here, Wyatt slept on it for a bit, and now my husband lays on the floor to watch tv with it propped under him...Wyatt sleeps in our bed, takes a bit getting used too, but he is a little snuggler.
Hope you enjoy the Weimaraner Addicts board, the people here are wonderful!

Welcome from Canada!
| Mom2WeimTeal wrote: | | 1. Can a weim ever sleep in a dog bed on the floor? It just seems like she has to get in my bed. I don't mind, but my husband is very anti-Teal right now. So, I end up crating her at night. But then I have to crate her during the day, too. Luckily, I'm self-employed so it's not for long. I'm also going to look at a local doggy day care for her. |
Our guy went from sleeping in his crate to his bed. He does cuddle with us early but then sleeps on his bed. We taught him by tethering him with a long leash so the he could get up and move around but not come to our bed. It doesn't take long for them to get the picture. If we didn't tether him at first he would hop back in our bed at 2am - always 2am like clockwork.
Now after cuddling when we ask him to get down he sleepily walks to his bed and crashes.
We did this instead of keeping him out of the room because I like the dogs there when the hubby is traveling. |
