We're new here, Daizee and I. Daizee just came to us recently and we are in love with her! She is timid from not being correctly socialized early (she was only with her litter up until 16 weeks), but she is getting better everyday. I have already been reading this forum for over a month, and just posted my first time in the Gen. Discussion. I am excited and am encouraged by all the wonderful people and posts here-- I just know we are going to benefit greatly from all the expertise and caring being passed around! My husband and my two beautiful daughters and I live north of LA right now, but we'll be moving to south Texas in the spring. I can't wait to hear from ya'll!!

Oh I thought you were from Louisiana, but you are from Los Angeles! Where do you live exactly?
I'm in Arcadia, near Pasadena. |

| We got Daizee near Pasadena, in Riverside! We are actually in Oxnard, in Ventura county which is about 2-3 hours from Riverside. Not so far away from you, I think!!! |

Hey Riverside is not near Pasadena LOL!! Well closer than Oxnard! If you are still in California early next year our club always does a Weim Festival in Van Nuys, I'll be sure to send you a flyer.
OK, so I know who you got your puppy from.... She also had Goldens and Vizslas and some other smaller breeds right? |

Can you tell I'm not from here? I thought Pasadena was near Riverside! I guess I could have Googled it before I stuck my foot in my mouth! Anyway, I'd LOVE to go to the Weim Festival, and Van Nuys is a short drive for us! I'll be looking for the flier---do you need my mailing address? I can email it to you or you could email the flier to me. Either works for me.
The family I got her from were "accidental breeders." They have 2 weims and had planed to maybe breed later, but the preventative measures (if there were any) didn't work and they bred before they were planning to. Both parents are AKC and beautiful dogs, but pets, not show dogs--although the litter did a commercial and online spot for Purina One! They have some small acreage and do some horse rescue as well.
s, right, and may be able to network at events, meetings, etc to find one? Is there such things in my area that might help get me started in that direction (to membership)? I get a little turned around with the things I read online and am a little unsure of where things are and how to get started. Any advice is, as always, much appreciated! |

Ok, so the last part of my message got mixed up. What I meant to say was...
Speaking of memberships in an official Weim club I need a sponsor, right, and may be able to network at events, meetings, etc to find one? Is there such things in my area that might help get me started in that direction (to membership)? I get a little turned around with the things I read online and am a little unsure of where things are and how to get started. Any advice is, as always, much appreciated! |

Oh OK....
cuz there are several large scale breeders in the Riverside area...
In any case, I'll email you a flyer for the Weim Festival, it's typically in March or so, won't have anything until next year to send out...
If you want a sponsor to the local Weim club, I'd be happy to sponsor you.
Also when you are ready to go to obedience classes, there is a good trainer who has Weims in your area, well not really close but in the Valley....
Also a bunch of field events are coming up if you are interested in coming out to watch. I may be a hunt test this weekend or maybe Eukanuba in Long Beach... not sure yet which....
LOTS of doggy things to do around here.... |

The 70s has been wonderful but Oooh I miss the snow! I am definitely interested in local membership! We are also currently researching obedience classes--Daizee gets her last shots on Dec 7th, so I thought we'd aim for the first of the year. Recommendations are welcomed!!
How do I look up Weim events in my area other than going to 50 websites and reading the upcoming events list? I'd love to go see Weims at work and play! |

It's 74 here right now. We won't see snow unless it snows when I'm up in Dallas for X-mas. |
