We use a gentle leader head collar from time-to-time with our girl as a training reinforcement tool when she starts to pull while on walks. The problem is that the nylon strap part of the harness that fits over the top of her muzzle rubs her and leaves a mark. I am sure that I have seen gentle leaders where the strap that goes over the muzzle is padded, but can't find one anywhere. Does anyone else know where I might find a padded gentle leader?
PS The gentle leader we are using is the right size and is fitted correctly. |

I use the gentle leader too and I don't have any problems so I can't be helpful there but my vet promotes this http://www.newtrix.ca/docs/ourproducts.php
It works a bit differently but has the padding. |

I just wanted to say that I ordered this collar for Lucy after seeing this post and so far it is working really well. I haven't had a chance to use it on her a lot but my boyfriend did over the past weekend. He took them to the lake with his family and he said that as soon as he put it on her she knew not to pull. The very first time we tried it out I (fyi-she is almost more then half my size and I have no muscle) walked her without any real problems when just a few weeks before she nearly drug Joe through the park. I plan on trying it on Julia a couple of times and will probably order her one too. I liked it much better then the gentle leader I bought for Lucy while she was in her training classes. She didn't jerk her head and try to flip around.
I just thought I would share this! |
