TOPIC: Rescue Chance in Fort Worth, TX

Rescue Chance in Fort Worth, TX 08 Jul 2012 18:43 #280436

*TEXAS FRIENDS* Say hello to Chance!
Chance is a 3.5 year old neutered gorgeous Weimie boy! Chance is a big bundle of love at 113 pounds. He is great with kids (lives with an 8mo. and an 18mo. old), and good with dogs up to a medium size, but is afraid of big dogs (-; (I know what you are thinking . . . larger than 113lbs?!) HERE'S THE SCOOP: We need to help Chance find a home close to him around Fort Worth, Texas, or arrange transport for him to Oregon to increase his chances of finding a great new family. Weim Rescue in Texas is swamped! So let's all share Chance's story (have friends in Texas?) and put on our thinking caps about how to help this gorgeous guy!

Hey there!

I live in Houston and have been considering rescuing a weimy for a while now. I've been in contact with Weim rescue Texas and played in their golf tournament this past April .

While I'm not Fort Worth, it is only 4-5 hours, and my parents live on the NE side of Dallas, so I don't think it would be an issue to go that far especially for a great pup! I've got 2 questions off the top of my head:

1) What kind of timeline are we thinking on when he needs to be adopted before he goes to Oregon? I can't really make it up to the DFW area for another 2 weeks or so.

2) Is he housetrained? I have a very active lifestyle so he will get plenty of outdoor weimy play time, but he will be in the house quite a bit as well.

As a last resort, I may be able to arrange for my parents to take him in for a bit. They currently have 2 weimies (6 and 12 yrs old), one of which was a rescue. I can flash a weimy picture and they will do what I want.
