My weim is 11. Her coat is a what I consider brown, but others call it grey. She's always had a dark eel strip down her back and a speckled belly. She has those hairy moles around her face and a few scars here and there and fatty tumors....she definately could not win a beauty contest. But lately her fur has gotten worse. Over the last 2 months she has lost all of the fur under her chin, and the rest of her fur is thinning drastically. At this rate she'll be pretty naked come winter. And she is turning yellow along either side of her back.
She does have a lot of health problems...a bad heart, a tumor-like growth next to her heart and a bad liver. She is on two meds a day. We nearly lost her last winter but she has been doing well all summer and enjoying herself, going for walks, playing and being her sassy loud self. We want her to enjoy the time she has left and we are pleased to see her doing so well however the cold weather is on the way and without fur she will be one sore pupsicle.
Has anyone else experienced hair loss with an elderly weim? Any suggestions beyond fish oil and a sweater collection? |

Don't have any advice beyond the sweater collection, but give her a pet for me. I have a soft spot for senior weims. We recently fostered a nine year old that we decided to adopt and I just love him. He recently turned 10 and is healthy so far.
He is the best dog.
I am so glad your girl in enjoying her life!! Keep us posted on her. |

| My advice is to get her thyroid checked with a FULL panel and send it to Antech or MSU. |
