Scout and I are entered in out first agility trial in July. We are both complete novices since I have only watched a couple of agility trials. We are entered in Novice A Jumpers and Novice A Standard. Does anyone have any tips or words of advice? Anything I should know about trial etiquette that we might not have learned in a class setting?
Any info would be appreciated

Hi ! I also do agility with my weim, Packer. It's sooo addicting! I was a nervous wreck, though at my first trial. The hardest part for me was knowing what was going on in each ring. Keep track of what is going on in each ring so you don't miss a judges briefing or a walkthru. I like to get there early enough to find a crateing spot, get checked in, exercise and potty my dog (and myself). Check in with the gate steward before your class and know who you follow in the running order. When you get to the line-breath and have fun! Lots of luck!!

| Thanks Michele. By the initials after Packer's names looks like you have done well in agility. It is very addictive! Scout really likes it and it has done wonders for her confidence. I have a question about the difference between novice A an novice B. We are entered in novice A since it is our first trial. Does it matter which novice you qualify in to move on to open? It says to enter novice B at your discretion. Is there a benefit to running in B versus A? |

Novice A is just for handlers that have never put an AKC agility title in a dog. After you title in A you can move right into Open, you don't have to move to B first. No benefits to running in B, you'll just be running against more experienced handlers.
