Hi all
We have a 15wk old Long haired Weim and no idea about showing but would love to give it a whirl, does anyone know any ring classes in Essex that we could attend?
Also does anyone have any nuggest of advise for a total novice? plus when can he be shown age wise?
Thanks |

Hi there
congrats on your new weimy!
I would speak to your breeder about showing your Weim - they would be able to offer you the best information about how to go about showing. If your breeder is not close by, perhaps you could try contacting a breed club in your area... or you could try your national breed club who can give you some information or perhaps a contact in your area that could help out. Another option would be to contact your canine body (The kennel Club?) and ask them if they know of anyone who does ringcraft classes in your area.
Other than that, practise lead walking (on the left) teach them to stand stay (this is quite good to do when you are about to feed - teach them stand and wait) and also teach them to let you look in their mouths at their teeth. Touch their paws and get them used to you moving them around... There are a few very good books and websites on show training - do a google search.
Best of luck!! |

Thanks very much for both the warm welcome and the helpful advice
I will have a chat with our breeder, I didnt like to disturb just now as she had an op and is recovering but hopefully shes back on form now so I will give her a call.
I spoke with the Kennel club and they had one in this area so will give him a bell and googles a great idea for tips!! thanks
We are novice dog owners, novice weim owners and novices hoping to show so we have our work cut out ....wish me luck!

For anyone in Essex..... I have found a ring craft class in Rayleigh on a Wednesday night from about 6pm to 10pm and you just turn up when you want. Small joining fee then £1.50 per week |
