Does anyone use one of these?>
I'm considering getting one for my Xterra, because it's easier to manage than having a crate rattling around back there all the time.
Which type are better? the wire ones, or the more "pipe-like" ones? |

I use this one:
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753748
It works very well. I am able to take a full grown lab and Zeke in the back of an RX300 without any problems. It does rattle a bit but I think I can fix that with a bit of electrical tape to tighten up the places where it rattles. |

We have the universal pipe looking one, LOVE IT... Went to Scheels sporting good store and picked it up in their hunting section for 39.99 We just bought it about 3 months ago....Zane was our perfect truck rider, and Wyatt thinks he has to be in our lap or smelling the middle vent in the console. (we have a chevy trail blazer) so it made since to atleast make the dogs stay in the back. Wyatt does like to stick his muzzle at us through the bars and make us feel guilty....

we have the pipe-like one. from PetCo. (Where else would WE buy dog stuff?!)
It rattles a bit, but it also keeps b n j in the back-back. I wish we could fix 2 crates back there to keep them lying down, but alas... at least they can't wander. |

What size crate did you get in the back of your X? Do you leave the seats down? I have been pondering buying two of the side by sides crates but I would still have to put down the back seats in my X. http://www.jbpet.com/Midwest-Side-by-Side-Crate,781.html
Right now I actually have a netting divider I use. So far it works but the first time Scooter rode in the back he crawled through the side of it and was in the front seat in no time.

I think that's the one we have too.
We just bought an F150 and are having a cap made. We bought two crates for the bed and two can fit in the cab. We keep the back seat up. I think I'll feel a lot safer travelling with them this way than all of them just loose in the back of the escape. |

Right now I have a 400 series VariKennel that I use for my rescue transports. It's a nice size, but I can't QUITE get 2 in there side by side, unless I shaved some of the plastic in the middle. I was thinking of getting one of those collapsible crates eventually, too ( the Nylon kind). For short distances, though, I'd rather just put the back seats up and have the barrier there. I had a double transport yesterday that would have gone better had I had a way to separate the 2 dogs more. |
