I know that its not good to bathe the dogs all the time but what about the bath wipes? My husband and I have cedar allergies and we are wondering what we can do when we come in from the outside with the pup. We were thinking about just wiping her off with a towel, but we also looked at the bath wipes today at the pet store. Any ideas of what we would best?
Thanks Again! |

| I know people who use them without problems, but I'd rather just use a wet towel, does the same job without the "chemicals" |

| I second what anne just said, Water>chemicals that remove skin oil. |

Honestly, I wouldn't fret too much about the wipes if you want to try them.
Water is a chemical by definition. And tap water also commonly contains chlorine and/or chloramine and sometime fluoride. It also lacks pH balance. Get tap water in your eyes or up your nose, and enjoy the burning sensation.
Bath wipes are usually nothing more than purified water (all of the things in the municipal water supply are stripped from it), fragrance, aloe vera, and lanolin as well as usually being pH balanced.
And lanolin is great stuff. It is actually the skin/fur oil produced by many animals. So as you can imagine, it is quite good for the skin since it restores these oils you are typically stripping out.
IMHO, use what works best for you and your dog. Try some wipes, try just using water, etc. But if you do use the bath wipes, take care to read the ingredients. |
