BAD Diarreha - HELP!

Postby Cathy » Mon Apr 26, 2010 5:23 pm

I came home to liquid poo all over Marley's crate. I just got back in town last night, but hubby says she hasn't had anything unusual and hasn't gotten into anything. She did have an old marrow bone with fat she was chewing on - could that have done it?

I can' t get her to the vet until tomorrow after work. Do I feed her normal food or chicken and rice or sweet potato or nothing at all? She wants to eat and is acting normal, but she's had two liquid poos since I got home 30 mintues ago.

I wouldn't worry a bunch, Forrest has the same reaction to too much fat - it usually goes away once his system clears out. I would just go back to feeding the normal diet until things get back to normal - should be tomorrow sometime. We've had the same situation, sometimes he can take care of it in 1 poop, more severe times it's taken a few hours and several bowel movements to work it out. If you go back to the normal diet and the problem persists, by all means see your vet, but I would give it a day or so....there is a thread on here about beef marrow bones where people had the same experience you are having right now, it passes with time.

Yes the marrow bone could have done it. All that fat at one sitting can really cause bad diarrhea.

That's for the quick replys. I was freaking out, which is rare for me, but I had already had a 'crappy' day and that was not what I wanted to come home to. I was supposed to have to work another hour over, so thank goodness I was able to get home when I did.
I threw Marley in the shower, but she didn't have any on her except her paws. She must have stood there waiting. I hosed down the crate and made some chicken and rice, which she was very impatient about waiting for. She was hungry and acted like nothing happened. And she kept making me go to the living room and I couldn't figure out why until I realized she was looking for that marrow bone I threw out
If I can get my work done this morning, I will run home at lunch to check on her.

Thanks again.
