Hi This is Tonia with the Weim Rescue of the South, we lost one of our rescue dogs today. He bloated earlier today and due to extensive damage from heartworms he didn't make it through the surgery. We don't know who owned Aspen he was a stray in a shelter in LA. The vet estimated he had heartworms for over 2 years. He was only four years old. It is so sad because he did not get the chance to go to a forever home, he was being boarded due to lack of foster homes. He did stay in a temporary foster home for a couple of weeks and loved to go with her on jeep rides. I just wanted to post a tribute to Aspen, he deserves to have us pay respects. We only had him a short time but he is missed by all of us in rescue.

Please consider fostering or adopting from a rescue group in your area, these dogs deserve to know love so much. Thanks, Tonia

Run with the wind sweet Aspen. Reading this just makes me cry. I find it so hard to know that he never had a chance for a forever home. I'm so sorry for him and others who never found a family to call their own. Rest in peace baby.

There is a picture of him on our website www.weimrescue.com. He was a beautiful dog, he is still listed under dogs for adoption.

This is such a special story Aspen will be missed by all who knew him and some who didn't. Run with the wind Aspen. For his foster family, please know that you made a difference.
