Marley lost his side-step weaves when we recently switched to the 24 inch weave pole spacing. He began bunny hopping instead. I'm retraining his weave poles this week by going back to the weave-o-matic technique. So far so good.... he's side-stepping again!

Great job! I hear you. Scout does better on 24" weaves but Lacy has had a hard time adjusting. She is smaller than Scout and has to drive forward more. We had to put the guides back on to work on her foot work.

Marley is looking good! I love this method of teaching weave poles! It works so well!

I'm really surprised at how quickly he discarded the bunny hop when I went back to the weave-o-matic setup. I suspect it didn't really feel natural to him as lately it seemed he had lost some confidence in his weaves.

Right now I have the poles set at about 5-10 degrees from vertical. I'd like to leave them at this angle for another week or more so he develops the muscle memory and hopefully loses his inclination to hop. The only fly in this ointment is we have a trial this weekend.
